How To Use OmegaStrap Ratchet Straps

Loading with OmegaStrap

How to set up a ratchet strap seems complicated but is simple once you understand how it’s done. Attach the long-end’s hook of the ratchet strap to an anchor point. (Old-school hooks always fall loose as soon as you move to begin securing the other side of your load. OmegaStrap eliminates this common issue with its patented flexible hook assembly). Simply set the hook and bend the flexible wire around any available object that will hold it in place.

The most common question people have is how to load a ratchet strap. It can be confusing. What we have done with the OmegaStrap’s loading feature is create simplicity. Just clamp a closed ratchet buckle in your left hand and turn the control knob clockwise with your right until it stops. Feed the strap through the slot from the back side. The back side says,” Load Slot This Side”. (This turn-back feature gives you the ability to always load your ratchet strap quickly, easily, and properly. You can even do it in the dark!)

Next, hook the buckle end of the strap up to the second anchor point.  Pull it semi-taut with one hand and turn the control knob with the other hand until the strap is taut between the anchor points. (Leave it semi-taut so you get enough webbing wrapped around the axle to overlap and hold securely).

Once OmegaStrap is tightened securely, take the tail-end (excess) strap and wrap it around the control knob. Use the elastic loop that is attached to the ratchet and loop it over that portion of the strap and control knob. That’s it! Hit the road.

We made OmegaStrap to be released in an easier, safer, and gentler way. Remove the elastic loop that is fastened around the control knob and uncoil the excess tail. Release the ratchet strap tension. (With regular ratchet straps uncontrolled release, or “popping loose”, is a familiar issue users face). Place your left index finger on the pawl tab and your left thumb around the handle end. Like a standard strap, you may just pinch the pawl and lift the buckle handle for release. If control matters, do the same but also hold the knob firmly with your right hand so you can let the strap loose on your terms. (No more pop and crash!)

This might be the point where you would get a jam, which is really common with a standard ratchet strap. You’ll never get a jam with the OmegaStrap because you can use the control knob to turn the rolled-up strap right out of the ratchet.

Finished? Wrap it up!  In about 30 seconds you can wind the entire strap up. Once wrapped, pull the attached elastic loop over the whole unit to secure it in place. When not in use, the elastic loop keeps your ratchet straps self-contained and easy to store. No more tangled pile of ratchet straps! OmegaStrap ratchet straps store more easily than any other strap.
